Creating your life on divine terms: A journey of awakening
‘You can be, do and have anything you desire as long as you believe it to be so’. Those are words that you may be familiar with, in fact, if you are anything like me, you may have lived by this belief system since you learned that ‘you are a powerful creator of your reality’.
In the early stages of awakening, it is natural and often necessary to lean on this foundational principle. We suddenly wake up from a slumber that may have lasted twenty, thirty, fourty, or more years where we experience the old paradigms and constructs in our life beginning to crumble. We are left untethered and without our safety harness. We need a stable and secure belief system to survive, hence the deep reminder and permissions that this ideology provides us with.
The early days of awakening can be overwhelming, uncertain, mysterious and frightening – like starting at a new school again. And much like these days in early childhood where we are given a buddy to show us the ropes. The universe often steps into this role, providing us with respite, rewards and reciprocation for the dedication, trust and courage we display as we start to live our new lives as our newly awakened, more authentic selves.
This is one stage of UpGrading in a series of many that we will walk during our soul’s evolution in this lifetime. There’s no distinct or resolute order to the phases, no hard and fast endings and beginnings, no concrete trajectory, and much like the spiral of ascension, which sees us revisiting similar themes, situations and life lessons so that we can more closely connect with the truth, the moments are never an exact replica; they are always unique and always filled with fresh potential.
There is never regression only ascension.
Free will is a concept we know of, and we also know about discernment, the power of the mind and its ability to be trained and programmed to assist us in sculpting and shaping our life to our liking. We know of the giant tool-kit available to us when it comes to personal, spiritual and professional development. We do know that we do have a choice in what we live.
But what about the moments when we don’t? What about when life is not going how we would like? What about the situations that trouble us? How about all the times when we get exactly the opposite of what we asked for?
No need to quit
There is no reason for you to abandon your beliefs and practices around conscious creation and the law of attraction. The foundation for these practices is extremely valuable and helpful in living a full, joyful and healthy life. Mindset, body, emotional and spiritual hygiene are never ever a waste of time! Aligning yourself with a higher frequency vibration is something I always recommend but only when you do it without attachment to a specific outcome. Bargaining with the universe to bring you what you want if you chant OM for 108 repetitions or bribing your angels to deliver a romantic partner if you forgive your ex, is likely to be futile. Your power lies in carrying out acts that bring you inner peace and assist you in feeling good, not ‘I’ll do this, if you give me that!’ Living a consciously creatively life becomes more and more pleasant when we do so without all the pressure we feel when we push and work so hard at it all the time.
The soul’s journey
If you have somehow come across my work and teachings today, then I suspect your soul brought you here to assimilate this next piece of the puzzle on a deeper level. This piece goes beyond the ‘ask, believe and receive’ style practices. In fact, it can feel utterly contradictory at times and I do totally understand if you begin to feel confused and fed up. But here’s the thing, each experience we are brought to, each loss we incur, each encounter, recurring life theme or pattern is for the pure purpose of our very own soul’s evolution and ascension. The growth, expansion and even the pain and suffering are purposeful and meaningful if we interact with it to some degree with this awareness in mind. I say to some degree so that I don’t come across absolute with this idea, or as though I am belittling or negating the pain and suffering that accompanies the soul’s UpGrade journey. I take every opportunity to remind you that shadow work must go hand in hand with healing work and that the combination and timing of what remedy or approach is needed and when, will be totally in your hands and not that of any new or old for that matter, spiritual, psychological or religious rule book.
By thy grace
Even though it will often feel like a crazy joke or sick prank, the truth is this: it happened that way because it had to. Many of the points in time on your life’s timeline, can go either way according to the culmination of a variety of elements. Some believe that there are multiple versions of your life playing out on multiple screens in a cosmic movie theatre and that we can direct with our free will and energetic imprint which one gets to play on the current and main screen of your life. But at the same time, there are those key and life-changing instances that are preordained by your higher self and cosmic team that no number of affirmations, high ticket coaching programmes, time in meditation or repetitions of ho’oponopono will change. There are just those moments where your depth of strength, dedication and resolve will have nothing on the will of the divine. The beautiful thing is, the closer you become to your true soul self, the more aware you become of your life themes and core lessons. Then, the more awakened and intuitive you become, the more authentically, gracefully and peacefully you will walk your path – and that, in a nutshell is how you’ll learn to consciously create your life while continuing to honour your divine path.
You are still powerful
When a strategy or system no longer works for us systematically and effortlessly, we can feel disempowered and like throwing in the towel. I teach (and write about in my book I AM UpGrading) many approaches to overcoming obstacles on your UpGrade that guide you to seek new solutions, such as ‘be rigid with your goals and flexible with your execution’ and ‘turning a not meant to be into how can it be’? which I recommend you not abandon. However, the new layer that we add with the understanding that surrendering to the greater good for all involved is one that will connect us directly with an infinite power, beyond anything we could visualise, desire or force into fruition. When we allow in grace, when we leave space for the bigger picture to be brought to life, we are in divine alignment and that is all the power you need right there.
